How to use Android messages for the web
As of this week, desktop support is being deployed for Android messages.
To start using Android messages, you must visit messages.android.com and scan the QR code with the complementary application of your phone (if you do not have an Android stock, you must first download the free Android messages from Google Play).
Unfortunately, this last piece of the puzzle is not yet in place, although they await it imminently.
Other methods to send text from Windows or Mac
If you are a Facebook user, you can send messages to any of your friends by logging in to Messenger.com. If you are an iPhone user who also has a Mac, you can use the Messages application on your Mac, or if you use a Windows PC, iPadian may allow you to access iMessage.
Email to SMS gateways allow you to send a text message through your regular email client, but in the United Kingdom they are mainly paid services that are used for mass marketing messages.
How to send text messages from the PC to the phone with MightyText
- Start Google Play on your phone, then find and install MightyText
- In your computer's browser, visit MightyText.net/install in your computer's browser
- Scroll down to step 2 - Run on your computer (or tablet)
- Select your browser.
- Click on the link to install the MightyText Chrome extension
- Click on the link to open the MightyText web application
- In the future, you can access the web application from the MightyText icon in your browser bar
- Click New message, select a recipient, enter your message and press the Send icon
- Note that the MightyText application required for configuration is only available on Android.
