When an audio notification is skipped, you must press and hold the message. It is not worth it with a quick touch, because in that case what will happen is that the WhatsApp application will open directly. After this, the notification will increase in size and a Play button will appear. You just have to click on it with your finger and you can listen to it.
You also have the option to reply via text message from the same lock screen. Since when you open the audio, the keyboard also unfolds.
